Oasis Hospital now is proud to announce the 10th Anniversary of their medical Oncology facility with all the makings of a first state of the art unit in Sri Lanka. Having been the first hospital to start the anti-cancer drug dispensing unit, peripheral blood stem cell transplant unit, radioactive iodine unit and Oncology special care facility in Sri Lanka. The Oncology unit of Oasis Hospital consists of 10 Rooms,20 Inpatient Beds,10 Out patients chemotherapy beds, Anti-cancer drug dispensing unit, Indoor anti- cancer pharmacy, Peripheral blood stem cell transplant facility, Out patient consultation room, In and out patients follow–up filing system, Radioactive iodine treatment facility to treat thyroid disorders.

The Oncology special care facility provides one to one Oncology nursing care and modern amenities to combat any form of cancer drug reactions.

The radioactive iodine unit which was started in 2002 is able to treat five patients at a time and has been commended on inspections by the IAEA, to have international standards and maintenance of up to date follow up records. Oasis Hospital’s Oncology unit also provide cancer screening facility and expert counseling. Being the first to start cancer vaccination against cervix cancer in Sri Lanka, Oasis Hospital has an annual registration of new patients of around 500 and have treated over 2200 cases of thyroid disorders.

The unit has also conducted eight successful peripheral blood stem cell transplants on multiple myeloma patients. Their cancer chemotherapy treatment being one of the best in Sri Lanka and most affordable, Oasis Hospital today is able to offer a comprehensive range of world-class cancer services, delivered through multidisciplinary teams of health professionals and provides a range of specialist cancer services including diagnostic imaging, allied health services.

The hospital also provides training to Oncology nurses and doctors and also provides post graduate teaching for doctors pursuing MD-part11 training in clinical Oncology. Their anti-cancer drug dispensing unit has provided training and demonstration in drug dispensing to nurses and pharmacists in the state sector as well. In addition the hospital also provides medical Oncology training for medical students in an exchange programme scheme for final year medical students. Their registered nurses have received specialized training in Drug delivery.

Dr R.S. Jayatileke, Director and Consultant Medical Oncologist, Dept. of Medical Oncology, and his team of consultants, currently manage the medical Oncology unit at Oasis Hospital Private Ltd.
